The Spanish state weather agency (AEMET) currently has yellow and orange warnings active across several regions, with the highest alerts for heavy rain along the Mediterranean coast and intense heat in southern inland areas. The most severe warnings – orange – cover parts of Valencia, Murcia and Andalusia as of this week.
Which areas are currently under Spain weather warnings?
Southern and eastern Spain bear the brunt this week. Orange rain warnings (40–60 mm in 12 hours) apply to coastal Valencia and Murcia, while yellow warnings for storms extend to the Balearic Islands and Catalonia. What do the warning levels mean?
AEMET uses three levels: yellow (risk, no danger to the general public), orange (dangerous weather; travel disruption possible) and red (extreme risk; avoid travel).
