Corrections Policy

At NorwichWire.co.uk, we take our responsibility to our readers seriously. We are committed to the accuracy and integrity of everything we publish. When we get something wrong, we believe in putting it right — plainly, promptly and transparently. This Corrections Policy sets out how we handle errors and how you can report them to us.

Our commitment to corrections

We aim to publish accurate, well-sourced journalism. However, errors can sometimes occur. When a significant factual mistake is identified — whether by our editorial team, a source or a reader — we will correct it as quickly as possible and clearly inform you of the change. Our goal is never to hide a mistake but to learn from it and maintain your trust.

How to report an error

If you spot an error in any of our content, please let us know by emailing corrections@norwichwire.co.uk. To help us investigate and resolve the issue efficiently, please include:

  • The full URL (web address) of the article or page where the error appears
  • The headline of the article
  • A clear description of what you believe is incorrect
  • The correct information, if known, along with any supporting evidence or sources
  • Your name and a contact email address (optional but helpful for follow-up)

You can also use our general contact email at info@norwichwire.co.uk, but for the fastest response, we recommend the dedicated corrections address.

How we handle corrections

All reported issues are first reviewed by our Standards & Fact-Checking team, led by Daniel Keane, our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead. The team assesses the claim, consults relevant sources and verifies the facts. For material errors — those that could significantly mislead a reader or change the understanding of a story — we take the following steps:

  • Article update with correction note: The article text is corrected, and a clear note is appended, usually at the top or bottom of the piece. The note will read: “Correction: An earlier version of this article misstated [issue]. The article was updated on [date].”
  • Update notes for added information: Where additional context or information is added to an article (but not correcting an error), we will include a note such as: “This article was updated on [date] to add [specific information].”
  • Minor errors: Simple spelling mistakes, typographical errors or grammatical fixes that do not affect meaning or accuracy are corrected silently without a formal correction note.

All correction notes are archived and can be reviewed upon request by contacting corrections@norwichwire.co.uk.

Timeline for response

We aim to acknowledge all correction requests within five working days. Simple or clearly identifiable errors may be resolved more quickly. For complex cases requiring further investigation, such as disputed claims, conflicting sources or historical context, we may take longer. We will keep you informed of our progress during this time.

Serious errors

If a correction involves a serious error — for example, a factual mistake that could cause reputational harm, legal risk or public confusion — the matter is escalated to our Editor-in-Chief, William Hargreaves. He oversees the final decision on how the error is addressed and what wider learning or process changes may be required.
