When we embed publicly available social media content, we do so in accordance with the platform’s terms of service and link back to the original post. Original photography by NorwichWire.co.uk staff is always credited to the photographer. We make every effort to ensure that any material we publish does not infringe copyright.
Rights assessment before use
Before any image or media asset appears on NorwichWire.co.uk, our editorial and standards teams review its provenance, licensing status, and attribution requirements. This process is overseen by our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Daniel Keane, who works with the wider standards desk to confirm that we have the necessary permissions or are relying on a recognised exception such as fair dealing for news reporting. If rights cannot be verified satisfactorily, the material is not used. Sponsored content and affiliate-linked images carry clear labels, and commercial partnerships never influence our decision to include or exclude an image.
How to submit a takedown or correction request
If you believe that your copyrighted work has been used on NorwichWire.co.uk without authorisation, or if an image credit is incorrect or missing, please contact us at copyright@norwichwire.co.uk. To help us process your request efficiently, please include the following:
- The full URL(s) of the page(s) containing the material
- A clear description of the copyrighted work you believe has been used
- Proof of your rights ownership or authority to act on behalf of the rights holder (for example, a registration certificate, contract, or explicit written permission)
- The reason for your request – whether you want the content removed, replaced, or credited differently
- Your full name, organisation (if applicable), email address, and phone number
We also welcome correction requests if you notice an error in attribution or a factual mistake related to image sources. Please use the same email address and include “Correction request” in the subject line.
Our response
We will acknowledge receipt of your request within two business days. Our standards desk will review the claim, verify the information, and take appropriate action. This may involve removing the content entirely, replacing it with a properly licensed alternative, adding or amending a credit line, or modifying the image to reflect updated rights information. If we believe the claim is not valid, we will explain our reasoning and provide an opportunity to discuss the matter further. We aim to resolve all takedown and correction requests within five business days. For repeated or serious infringements, we reserve the right to block or suspend accounts, reporting privileges, or contributor access.
